Suggested Reading
Here is a suggested list of material that will get you started, and increase your knowledge of the food universe as we know it. And maybe some fun ones well.
I’ll put up reviews of new books as I read them, to give you more in depth views on what I think. But I like these, and while not all are directly related to food, all are good and help you think about the issues surrounding our current food system.
The Omnivore’s Dilemma – Michael Pollan*
* Pick up anything by Michael Pollan but that’s a great place to start
The China Study – T. Collin Campbell
Cod or Salt – both by Mark Kurlansky. Salt is probably one of my favorite books.
Heat – Bill Buford
Meat - Susan Bourette
Soil Not Oil – Vandana Shiva
The End of Poverty – Jeffrey Sachs
The Economics of Food – Patrick Westhoff
Fast Food Nation – Eric Schlosser
That should keep you busy for a week or so.
